Narnia assessment

Camera shots and angles

1.a

Our scene from the Narnia script only had two setting; the forest and inside Mr Tumous’s house. The woods were a lot easier to film the house because there was a lot more space and a lot more angles we could film from, where as the house was filmed in my shed and was only good for 3-4 angles. We filmed the woodland scene in the morning ones the sun had risen so we had as much as the day to film the scenes we needed. Firstly, we started with shots where we followed Lucy, played by Izzy threw the woods and finally to the lampposts. Even though this was only 25 seconds of the video we used 3 camera shots, one following her and two from the side. After this we started to film with Mr Tumous. When filming with him we used even more angles and filmed more shots for example we filed one of the shots from above, this is because it meant that we could have both actors could be in shot and it made the passing of the parcels more affective.

The filming of the house came some days after the woods because at the time we didn’t know where we were going to film. We started by filming all the shots that we needed with a from straight using tripod. We had to film this scene multiple times because of lighting difficulty but managed to sought them out. We filmed face shots of every part of this scene, so we had the widest range of shots we could.

The lighting in the woods was very different to the lighting in the house because when we were outside we relied on natural light, where as when we were inside we relied on lamps to create shadows so that we could get the affect that there was only candle light in the house. The over all effect of the lighting in the house gave gloomy mysterious feeling. This changed when the lighting cut out giving a scene of danger and fear.
Costumes This is our costume for Mr Tumous. We first began by thinking about what he might need to wear to survive in the harsh winter of Narnia. After this we drew out our first idea for the costume not thinking about how we were going to sours any of the materials for his costume. Finally, after lots of trial and error we settled with a woollen jumper and a scarf for the top half and tight jeans for the bottom half. The reason we chose jeans is because goats have quite thin legs and the jeans were the easiest way to get Raygen’s legs as thin as possible.
With Lucy’s costume we went for a more simplistic idea then Mr Tumous’s costume because she is currently in ww2 and would not have had the money to by brand new cloths. We began by choosing a dress for her to wear, Izzy helped us with this as she brought some of her dresses from home. Then we moved on to her jumper, we choses this because it worked well with the dress and helped complete our final image for Lucy. Some of the small things we decided to go with is that her hair clip has a butterfly on which contrasted to the flowers on her dress. Also, we asked Izzy to wear ankle socks and smart black shoes to fully complete her outfit.

Makeup

Raygen did his own makeup for Mr Tumous. He began by sketching out his ideas on paper thinking out what he might need to source such as concealer Face Paint Black, White Setting Powder Contour powder lip tint Mascara. On Raygen’s cheeks we put some speckles to make his face seem ruff.
  Character expression
We only had two actors for our hole video which means each actor had a lot of screen time and it also meant each actor had to work very because they couldn’t hide behind other actors whom might be giving a stronger performance. Our actors Raygen, who played Mr Tumous and Izzy who played Lucy were both exceptional actors and stayed in character all the time. WE asked Raygen to have slow persisted movements because that is how we wanted him to walk due to him being a mythical creature named a thorn. Izzy on the other had in the opening scene we asked to twist and turn and look at everything as if she had never seen it before because she is in a new environment.
Editing
We used 2 different editing software’s to create our final video, movie maker and logic pro x. We used movie maker to create the final cut and then uploaded the video to logic pro and applied the music to it. Mini edited the video using all our best shots from both filming days to create a final cut. Mimi muted some of the parts of her final cut which made some difficulties when adding the sounds. Before adding the sound on logic I first had to download them as mp3 files of YouTube so that they would comply with the software. After this I began to apply the music and sound making shore it did not sit above the desirable sounds that the camera picked up in the video. Finally I mixed the mixed the sounds and enhanced some of the dynamic noises to create our final cut.

Planning
Cast
Finding cast for our video was harder then we initially installed, especially the part of Lucy because none of us new anyone young to pay the part. We began by auditioning for the part of Mr Tumous asking are friends if they would like to play the part. I think we auditioned 5 guys for the part but settled on Raygen because he was best for the part. When finding Lucy we searched a year 7 drama class and thought Izzy was the best out of all of them. Finally we asked our two actors to rehears their parts and act them threw before we filmed.
Location
We only needed 2 locations for our video, a forest and the house of Mr Tumous. We looked for small woodlands to film the opening part of the video. We finally settled with a small woodland in Silfield road in Wymondahm.
